Siemens Gamesa will provide 20 SG 5.0-145 turbines. On the SG 4.X platform, Siemens Gamesa’s new DinoTails Next Generation technology is integrated into the 71-metre blade.

“guarantees a high production of energy and reduced noise emission levels”. said the company.

It is expected that the reduction in noise will improve the performance of the Hilda wind power project while staying within the required noise emission levels.

More than 1.2GW of power will be generated by the SG 4.X platform in western Canada through 2023, according to Siemens Gamesa.

Shannon Sturgil, CEO, Onshore North America, at Siemens Gamesa, said: “RES continues to be a key partner in providing clean energy solutions, as well as a strong global citizen in the communities we serve, and we are proud to expand our partnership with them into Canada.”

The turbine market in Canada is dominated by Siemens Gamesa, which has almost 3,000MW of turbines installed across the country and has signed contracts that will bring the total to more than 4,000MW by the end of 2023.
